Pine Mantel

A house built around serial arches. Windows overlooking the treetops. A Pine Mantel shelf defined by arches and stylized tree branches. Just enough reclaimed pine left over from other projects[http://www.wccwood.com/reclaimed-pine-kitchen/,http://www.wccwood.com/reclaimed-pine-table/,] to make a 60 inches x 12 inches (nominal at arch apex) mantel shelf. Pine with a resin content that would allow 1/4″ thick strips to be “melted” into a 10 inches radius arch. Plywood grade adhesives bond 5 “melted” strips into one solid piece. A little luck, wood grinder, rasp, sandpaper and fiber glass resin it was the best stylized tree I could do.
