Black Painted Furniture

Black and ebonized finishes are either in vogue or not. This customer requested both an antiqued worn black finish for the project table or the smooth satin black for the washstand. Both use a poplar wood base. The project table was design from a magazine photograph provided by the customer. The table stands 36 inches tall so sewing and other craft works are comfortably done at elbow level. It has a 48 inch by 24 work surface, a pullout 14 by 12 shelf and two drawers (10 inches deep) to hold materials and tools. The washstand follows a traditional design from a time when a midnight nature call entailed putting on clothes and shoes and finding a lattern. 30 inches tall, 24X36 top.
