Pine Kitchen Table
Barn Pine salvaged from a tobacco barn built by my grandfather around 1910 became a kitchen table for his great grandson. Termites and rot of the partially log and partially framed building made the barn needed unusable. Enough lumber could be reclaimed to construct a requested a 4 feet by 6 feet table. The table sits on simple four-sided tapered legs. Rounding all table edges removed sharp corners and made the table more “child friendly”. A durable and easy to care for finish of multiple coats of Waterlox varnish protected the wood from the wear and tear of daily use. No stain or other colorants were added. The table should give the barn pine an extension on its useful life.
